Gosick – Episode 4 – The Golden Thread Cuts Through A Passing Moment

Posted on Feb 03 2011

Another episode, another week closer to the full version of Destin Histoire. It has come to my attention that although I post a question each week, no one actually answers it. Let’s work on that, shall we? Onto the mysteries that await!

———————————————————————————————–

We start this episode off very strangely, with Phallic-hair Man pointing fingers at Kujo. Seems Kujo is a murderer. But that can’t be, he’s just a family man! It’s time to call in our defense: Phoe- wait no. Victorique! Surely she can solve this case. It’s what she does after all.

According to Kujo’s story, this dude was just riding along on his motorcycle, but not playing any card games. Well there’s the problem right there! Maybe if he was playing a card game, he wouldn’t be dead. But how exactly did he suddenly become the headless rider? Seems there was a wire set up just right to slice his head clean off.

Thank you helpful and descriptive image. Just like that, he became rather beside himself. That pun doesn’t quite work, but we’ll have to make do. Anyway, Victorique points out that anyone could have set up that wire, not just Kujo. And since Kujo mentioned he was daydreaming about blonds, the culprit must be a blond woman! Makes sense to me. Also, it seems she’s cut her hand because one end of the wire is all bloody. I was wondering about that, thank you Gosick.

Pipe shot number one. Anyway, Kujo thanks Victorique for another job well done. However, it seems that puzzle wasn’t challenging enough for her and she is still bored. I agree, that was a little tame compared to the last mystery we had. On the bright side, it now makes more sense why everyone calls Kujo the Dark Reaper. Death seems to follow him wherever he goes. While they do have a point, how could they have known that before anything bad happened around him…

Speaking of bad things, this chick spells trouble. She’s cute, to be sure, but something about her is just off to me. Maybe it’s the beauty mark. Whatever it is, Kujo gets swindled into showing her around the school. Apparently she knows a few ghost stories of her own, including one involving Victorique: The Golden Fairy of the Library. During this whole guided tour, I can’t help but notice something else is a little off about Blond Girl.

Yes, her bandaged hand draws quite a bit of attention. Especially since we just got through saying how the last murderer has blond hair and a cut hand. Even though the paper said that person was caught, I highly doubt it. Kujo even asks her about it, and she gets all defensive. I’m not drawing any concrete conclusions here, but if it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck… Before we can ask more though, Kujo gets called in for his muscle. We need help opening a crypt. What kind of school has a crypt?

Not just any crypt either, but one with a dead knight right inside the door. Obviously there would be dead people in a crypt, but this is not proper body placement. Not only that, there was a book down there, which Blond Girl immediately goes to pick up. Like she knew it was there or something. Very suspicious and/or curious. The plot thickens.

After explaining what we know to Victorique, and having her explain even more to us, we go back to find that there’s a body missing. How odd. But Victorique tells us that it was all part of a plan from eight years ago by some dead chick to make sure Zombie Knight over here died with her. How romantic, in a kinda creepy way that is.

It’s great that we know everything about those last two mysteries, but what about the one we have going on now? What’s up with Blond Girl’s hand? What’s that book about? Why was Blond Girl seen leaving the library all sneaky-like? Well clearly we’ve run out of time for this episode, so here’s the second shot of Victorique and her pipe.

I feel that my curiosity was fully satisfied for those two mysteries, but I am still curious about this new Blond Girl. Only time will tell if my suspicions are right, but I don’t want to jump to any big conclusions like I did in the last arc. That was just dumb luck. Tune in next week for episode five: There’s a Mysterious Ghost in the Abandoned Storehouse.

———————————————————————————————–

Question time! Just because I won’t jump to conclusions doesn’t mean you cant. What do you think about Blond Girl? Is she really the culprit behind that mysterious beheading? Is she just some schoolgirl who fell and hurt herself? I want to know what you think!

Once again, I am very glad that now I fully understand the Dark Reaper thing. And don’t forget that this series and many more this season are being streamed on Crunchyroll. Make sure to check them out!

Somethng more is up with short-blond haired girl but seems too obvious to be the culprit, I’m thinking she’s ok. Mr. Phalic-hair brother is really starting to bother me though.

Yeah, one of those ‘too obvious’ kinda things.
