Fan Friday – Anime Über Kawaii Moe Moe Kyun Desu

Posted on Jul 16 2010

Today’s Fan Friday submission comes from our newest moderator, Jubilee. Does this mean it’s not really Fan Friday? Who cares, read on!

Hey all you out there in 91.8 The Fan land! Jubilee here, and I’m here to bring you my Top Five/ Bottom Five Cutest Anime Characters of all time! Racking my brain on a subject over which to make a list over proved difficult at first, but then it hit me like a chibi-rock! What better to list than the characters that make us all go, ahem, “KAWWWWWAI!~” On the flip side, I felt it necessary to also list the Bottom Five cutest. Think of them as the characters who…actually don’t think of them at all, as they will probably give you nightmares. And now, without further awwdu, I present you with my Top 5 Cutest Anime Characters! (And the not so cute ones too).

5) Rin Kokonoe – Kodomo no Jikan

Sure, the series is a little bit…odd, but that does not stop me from putting Rin on this list. She’s little, she’s cute, she gets to be on my list. On a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the ugliest and 10 being brain to mush cuteness, I would give her an 8. That is basically an elementary school Christmas pageant with kittens and bunnies dancing in the background.

4) Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck – Bleach

I actually expect for some to disagree with this choice, as I know quite a few to find her more annoying than cute. To these people who find her annoying, thou art crazy. Not only is she cute, but her spit has healing properties. If you do not find yourself awing at her pronunciation of Ichigo, you probably also hate baby kittens, and prefer to pickup your prom date in a tank while wearing a camouflage tuxedo.

3) Mew – Pokémon

I actually had a bit of a hard time deciding the cutest Pokémon, but I decided to go with Mew. Not only is it pink, have big eyes, and big feet, but it also flies around in a bubble. Also, when it puts you to sleep from its sheer adorableness, it does not write all over your face with a marker that doubles as a microphone. That is why Mew gets to be on the list.

2) Fuuko Ibuki – Clannad

Now I will admit, I have not watched much of Clannad, but I have to place Fuko on my list. One look at her little face was enough to make me melt, and I’m not even ashamed to have said that. I do not really get the whole starfish thing…but I know that I want one. Look at her! Do not tell me you would not want to pinch her cheeks!

1) Sakura Kinomoto – Cardcaptor Sakura

Honestly, if you did not see this being number one on my list, shame upon you. Only Sakura could make carrying around a stick with a bird’s head on it cute. If you can make it through the series without wanting a Sakura plushie, you are a liar. If you baked a cake with kittens, babies, puppies, unicorns, and then dressed it like Lady Gaga, you would probably conjure a Sakura-chan! Ahem, “KAWAII!~”

And now…onto our Characters who were apparently born in a nest, tried to fly, but fell down and hit every branch on the tree.

5) Yubaba – Spirited Away

I’m kicking this off with a bang. Yubaba literally had me turning away from the screen everytime she was in the movie. I had nightmares of her chasing after me on a giant Reptar. She is not one to mess around with…Also, is that a wart on her forehead? I’m scrolling down now!

4) Naruto – Naruto

I have never gotten into Naruto, and the main character is the reason why. I have never been able to stand the way he looks, much less his voice. I mean who comes up with the idea for a ninja in a hideous orange jump suit? Much less the fact he can multiply…because what we need is more of his ugly mug on the screen. Someone grab me a barf bag.

3) Marechiyo Omaeda – Bleach

Look if you dare…It’s Omaeda. If you are still able to read this, I applaude you. It makes me sad that the 2nd Division gets stuck with the ugliest character in Bleach. I’ll admit he is great as comedic relief…especially when I am blindfolded.

2) Kanaria – Hunter X Hunter

I have never seen this series, and after seeing this character I don’t think I really want to. I mean, is Side Show Bob her hair stylist?! Also, when I have to go look up the gender of a character, it is generally a bad thing. There is only one possible thing that could beat this…

1) Gluttony – Full Metal Alchemist

Okay, I tried to watch Full Metal Alchemist, sporadically, but I did try. I was unfortunate enough to catch an episode with this…thing in it. I suppose villains are supposed to be ugly sometimes…but damn. He scares me as I think he will eat my face…but I only wish he would eat his. Okay, take it away now, his spit does not heal people.

That does it for my Top 5/Bottom 5 Anime Characters of all time. I hope you guys enjoyed it, and I want to encourage people to leave comments as to some of their own choices on the topic. Thanks again guys, Jubi out!

Nel is adorable. She’s one of my favorite characters. As for gluttony he would be my number 1 worst,I would have to say Omaeda would be,and his comedy relief is bad. >> I hate him.Honestly Soi Fong needs to get a new #2.Someone who,you know, actually belongs in her squad.

Hm, seems a little too biased for me, in my opinion. For example, if I were to do a list, I doubt Hinata or Orihime would be top ;P It would most likely be Kisa, or Nel, or even Sakura, like you put! x3 And the least-cute is mostly what gets to me… mostly only Naruto, since he’s just like any other kid, but Gluttony definitely deserves #1 XD So, I agree, I disagree, but I’m looking at this from an outside and also probably a “creator’s” point of view. I think I’m a little too outside-of-the-box ;P Good article, though. Can’t wait to see more top5/worst5 from the rest of the 91.8 the fan staff!
