Jubilee’s News Jumble – E3’s Top Stories!

Posted on Jun 12 2011

Greetings Fanatics! Welcome to a very special edition of the News Jumble, as we have a whole edition dedicated to video game news! In fact, I will be counting down my top 12 stories from E3 this past week! Sorry shooter and racer fans, but you might not see any of you genre up here this week…Jubi gets bored of them after seeing so many similar looking trailers…oops…did I say that out loud? I am just joshing you all, but seriously, enjoy!

———————————————————————————————–

Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. A bit of a shocker when shown at the Sony event, a reinstatement of the Sly Cooper franchise was announced via this trailer. Now, I haven’t played a Sly Cooper since the second one, but I remember really enjoying the series, and hope for it to be just as awesome (as it looks that way). I can’t wait to see more later on, but glad to see some familiar faces that aren’t quite so serious during one of the main events.

Ninja Gaiden 3. It is back, and as bloody and beautiful as ever. With both the trailer, viewable here, and gameplay walkthroughs, viewable here, shown off at E3…I was impressed. Can’t wait to get my hands on this one and play it for myself…or at least watch more of it.

Star Wars: The Old Republic. At E3, we were treated to the official opening cinematic to the new, upcoming Star Wars game, The Old Republic. And, well, watch it here. See, pretty awesome, no? Now, I am not a huge Star Wars fan, but this game looked impressive. Very, very impressive.

Overstrike. The newest game from Insomniac was unveiled during EA’s show, and was announced to be a 4 person co-op action game. You can view the trailer here, on Insomniac’s home page, as well as read a short synopsis. The trailer struck me as the Incredibles meets a shooter, so I think it might be one that I try out! As a company I have grown up with, and as creators of two of my favorite gaming series, I have total faith that this game will be as awesome as the trailer was.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Debuting during Sony’s show, the trailer and demo of Uncharted 3 was one of the highest points for Sony and the PlayStation 3. I don’t really even like these kind of games, but check out the trailer. Amazing, and absolutely breathtaking. Step forward in cinematic video games? I think so.

X-Men: Destiny. This game gets a number 7 spot for the sheer fact it is X-Men related. Well…not really just for that reason, but honestly, this game looks like something I have been waiting for…for a very long time. As with all the other ones, you can view the trailer here on Gametrailers.com. Basically, the game appears to be you, creating your own Mutant and fighting alongside others such as Gambit, Magneto, etc. Aside from this though, I didn’t get a whole lot of info on the game, (a.k.a – Still no release date, platforms it will be available on, etc.), so I look forward to finding out more, and hopefully soon!

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Now, I am not an avid Elder Scrolls fan, but I have an extremely high respect for the series as an RPG player. The walkthrough and sneak peeks of the newest installment to the series presented at E3 did nothing but reinforce my respect. To view it, you can check it out here, (be warned that it will ask for birthdate due to gore…but several of these trailers will). Love the dragons…looks amazing.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Being the 25th anniversary of the Zelda franchise, a new game will be out for the Wii this holiday season, and naturally, it made its debut at E3 this year. Love the artwork on this one…even if it is just another Zelda game, it looks like another masterpiece. I shall link you guys the official trailer, here.

PlayStation Vita. Probably the other biggest highlight from the Sony event besides Uncharted and the #2 story, the “NGP” was revealed as the PlayStation Vita. Now, personally, I will always be dedicated to Nintendo for portable gaming, but I respect the power of the PSV, and enjoyed its unveiling. This montage showed off upcoming titles for the console, and here you can see the announcement for the price as a respectable $249.99 for the wi-fi version, and $299.99 for the 3G version. Also, we know that the PSV will be out in Japan by the end of this year, and out everywhere else by the end of the fiscal year, (next March).

Kid Icarus: Uprising. Nintendo unveiled the debut trailer and gameplay for the new Kid Icarus title, and announced that the title would be out for the 3DS by the holiday season. Not only that, but it will have a 3v3 multiplayer mode which will allow you to team up for battles with other angels. Honestly, it is the main reason I would get a 3DS at this point in time…and I will probably ask for one and this game for Christmas this year. *Insert Awesomeface here*

PlayStation 3D Monitor/Bundle. This is just flat out amazing to me. Sony revealed a 3D display developed for PS3 owners during their show, but the coolest thing about it is, thanks to stereoscopic glasses, the display can show two different images to players instead of split screens. Not to mention that it will ship in a bundle later this year, included with 3D glasses, a 6 foot HDMI cable, AND a copy of Resistance 3. Total price for all this? $499.99. Don’t act like you are not impressed.

Wii U. While I was underwhelmed by the unveiled Project Cafe, it certainly was the biggest announcement of E3 this year in my eyes. I will just link the debut video, here, and the features walkthrough, here. Those show about the extent of my knowledge on the thing…I am interested to learn more about the device, but as of this week, I think I was overhyping the Nintendo conference just a bit. It left me just a tad disappointed.

And that does it for the special E3 edition of the News Jumble! I hope you guys had an awesome week, because I know I did. Always one of my favorite weeks of the year! I shall be back next week, with the same old News Jumble, so until then sit tight! Are you sitting? Okay, you can get up now. LOOK A PIDGEON! *Flees*

*Whispers* Also, leave a comment on your favorite thing about E3 and why. Yay!

I izzle disappoint Wii U made the top of your list.

    • Jubilee June 12, 2011 at 8:59 PM

Well…there is no denying it was the biggest thing unveiled this year. Tis the only reason for it really. 😛

Lol Kana, even if you’re a Sony fangirl you have to be unbiased when it comes to reporting :P. A new console unveil is more important than revealing the name of an already shown handheld.

But TheX-Men game I missed, I only saw a couple images and a dev interview AFTER E3, so I’m going to watch the trailer now!

But yeah, all of the top 7 are AWESOME stories, but where was Battlefield 3? That was probably game of the show. Tomb Raider I think is news worthy too.

I agree with Battlefield 3. I should have had that on here somewhere, even if it is a silly shooter. 😛 Tomb Raider, I feel like I didn’t see quite enough to make me, personally, excited.

I agreed the entire time Nintendo would have the biggest announcement, but I was just surprised since Jubi and I seemed really disappointed with the unveiling.

I am more impressed on Sony’s new TV being able to solve the split screen problems like using horizontal or vertical screenplay by using visors/glasses.

My disappointing fact about E3 this year was Nintendo Wii U and how it is similar to a DS system but isn’t and looks like an Etch-a-Sketch/Ipad/Bamboo crossover to me.

Well thank you Jubilee for the very short and informative countdown of E3 2011 news that I missed this week!

    • Jubilee June 13, 2011 at 12:17 AM

      You are quite welcome!
And yes…pretty much my sentiments on the Wii U.

    For the new Zelda game:
“I shall link you guys the official trailer”

Haha! I caught the pun. XD

    • Jubilee June 13, 2011 at 10:12 AM

:D…I was thinking it was lost. 😛

      • Kate June 13, 2011 at 2:07 PM

I blame my sister for catching that. She’s a master of puns in this house. >.>’
