Oh, sure, it might be kind of boring, and it might have the silliest title we've seen yet from this series (pretty sure we passed nine coffins by episode 2!), and it might be implausible that our heroes have suddenly developed psychic abilities where the vampires are concerned, but I think this episode might also be a real winner. Barely a hint of purple hair!

Hey, everyone - I'm back! Did you miss me? I know you did. You know what I missed? Angsty teenage boys making consistently terrible decisions. Luckily for me, Shiki has just what I've been craving.

Hey everyone, DJ Christmas here. Hounddog was unable to do the Hound Blog for this week, so she asked me to instead, since I'm apparently the only other person who watches this series. For some reason, this episode title has three words, instead of just two. Strange, but not as strange as the plot of this show.

I can't lie: this is the second boring episode in a row. It started out promising (Megumi? Yuuki? Anger? Dismemberment? Jerky film reel art style?), but then it didn't deliver. Well guess what, Shiki? If you won't do it for me, I'm forced to entertain myself.

For an episode with "deceit" right in the title, this one was shockingly predictable! Come on, Shiki - where's the adventure? Where's the challenge? If last week's episode was an edge-of-your-seat horror thriller, this episode is more like...well, it wasn't that. I'm not mad, Shiki. I'm just disappointed.

I'm not a huge fan of the horror genre - in part because I am a big sissy. Actually, that's the whole reason why. I, Hounddog, am a total scaredy cat and I don't care who knows it. And let me tell you, after this episode...I'll probably have to sleep with the lights on for a few days.

I had a cake metaphor all planned out for this episode that I can't even use now because this episode went completely bonkers on me and just about dissolved into yaoi, and everyone knows that cake + yaoi is way too sexy for mass public consumption here at 91.8 The Fan.

You know what I really like about Shiki so far? This series is obsessively organized. I mean, in Episode 2 we get an interactive map of town (not once, but twice!) and a slideshow of everyone who's died so far and they've continued introducing new characters with their names and occupations clearly spelled out.

Hey puppitos - me again! That's right, the HoundBlog is back for another round of cut-throat, no nonsense critique, plus a bit of wisdom and chuckles for balance, from yours truly. Our selection this time around is Shiki, which I've been pretty excited to watch for a while now, so I'm cutting the small talk. Ready?? Let's get started!
