After a bit of an impromptu break, The Owl in the Rafters is back with a convention related update! Anime Central, one of the largest anime conventions in the U.S.'s midwest region was this past end of April weekend so I'd like to go over some brief highlights and address my usual concerns with the state of the convention scene and, to some extent, anime fandom in general.

‘Bejitarizumu,’ a play on the words vegetarian (be-ji-te-ri-an-iz-u-mu) and rhythm (ri-zu-mu), has quickly become one of Japan’s most recent viral videos. Welcome back to the Owl in the Rafters, where I, Tyto, your host, not only can't think of a title for the week, but also desperately need to find a better way to open this article than saying "Welcome back" every week.

10 years of anime con-going experience has taught me a lot: how to survive on little sleep with noisy roommates, how to get from one panel on the bottom floor to the next on the fourth floor in under a minute, how important packing your own food is, etc.
