I was messing around on my PS2 the other day, rapidly cycling through games that I hadn’t played in years in a small nostalgia fit, a pile of old games scattered around my feet. I had just finished playing a quick Blitzball match in Final Fantasy X when I came across my old copy of Dark Cloud and popped the sucker in, planning on messing around for a few minutes before moving on to the next title.

Oh Grand Theft Auto, sometimes it’s hard to remember what a good game series you are what with all of the controversy and outrage surrounding you. But underneath that rough media exterior is one of the best examples of sandbox gaming done right, combining trace elements of story with a world overflowing with entropy and the potential for chaos.

I have a little bit of an addiction when it comes to web comics. I read several series on a daily basis and am constantly on the lookout for new web comics to add to my ever changing routine. One of these is the highly popular series Penny Arcade, which in the past decade has easily eclipsed its fellow web comic brethren through a series of successes like the PAX conventions and the Child’s Play charity (amongst other things).

BG: As I’m sure most of you know, the new Pokemon games, Black and White, were released this last weekend over here in the U.S. to great fanfare. Due to Pokemon’s high popularity here on the site I figured it would be remiss of me to not do some sort of review for this latest release of the franchise, however there were two issues I needed to work out first.

All right, I think I need to start this review off with a little bit of a confession: I am a HUGE Shin Megami Tensei fan. And when I say huge I mean it. Ever since I picked up Persona 4 a few years ago I’ve picked up every Shin Megami release I could get my hands on in an effort to recapture the magic of that title.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was one of my favorite fighting games as a kid. It and the Soul Calibur made up the bulk of my fighting game experience back then, and I loved them for it. Sure, games like Mortal Kombat and Tekken would be played on occasion as well, but it was these two games that first taught me the joy of fighting games and, sadly, the painful realization that I wasn’t any good at them.

When I first purchased my PSP there was a period where I didn’t really know what to do with the dang thing. Truthfully speaking there weren’t that many great games for the system and I just didn’t have the funds to experiment with a bunch of unknowns in order to find the gems available at the time. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed my first few games like Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? and Kenka Bancho: ...

As of late I stumbled across a strange title at my local gaming store called Devil Kings. Now, I had never heard of Devil Kings before, nor did I know anything about it whatsoever. But something about the character designs featured on the cover struck me. It was as if I had seen them somewhere before but no matter what I did I just couldn’t remember where from. Well, it was only six dollars and my ...
