Rob Patterson made 6 accounts and disliked this because Pokemon is more popular than Twilight.

I hate when people do this and the fact that it does not even have a name annoys me. So please, if you know what this is called or have a creative term to describe this, please share in the comments below.

Now for the Round Table rules: As usual, each participant is given a series questions covering various aspects in anime, manga and Japanese culture. Each individual then has to provide their opinion on the said issue. Finally, I call Rita Repulsa for tips on defeating the Power Rangers.

    Our Participants today are:

  • EagleEyes – Hidden Mist
  • ZshadowX – Hidden Leaf
  • Jinn Remona – Hidden Cloud
  • Cameron – Hidden Stone
  • TehScribbles – Hidden Sand
  • What is your favorite fight scene from the series? Is it from the original or Shippuden series?

    • EagleEyes – So many good ones, I may have to do a top 3:

Shizune vs Kabuto – this was the moment I realized how awesome Shizune was: the sequence of her charging at Kabuto and her afterimages reflecting off his glasses were very well done and one of my most memorable moments from the series.

Shino vs Kankuro – when I first got into the series these two were tied for my favorite character and when they went toe-to-toe it became one of my favorite fights.

Sakura / Chiyo vs Sasori – the reason why someone should watch Shippuden is this fight alone. This marks the longest fight scene by far (spanning about 8 episodes). This gave us hope for Sakura, that she could be an awesome character too (too bad Kishimoto hates women….).
    • ZshadowX – I’m not of a big fan of Naruto so I don’t read it or watch it that much, but there is this one fight scene that made me check out Naruto. My favorite fight scene is Naruto vs Sasuke, where Sasuke is leaving and Naruto is trying to bring him back. That one scene was very epic. I was like “Naruto is going to have so many ninja fights.” Sadly I was wrong, but the manga for Shippuden is another story. The best fight scene is Sasuke vs Itachi……. Now that’s a match I will never forget.
    • Jinn Remona – My favourite fight scene has to be between Hinata and the three Bee Insect Users during the oh-so-long fillers. This fight is my favourite mainly because it’s when Hinata really started to become more confident in her own skills. Since she is my favourite character, besides Kakashi and Gai, I enjoyed seeing her fight and win.
    • Cameron – Hmmm… Either Naruto vs Orochimaru or Naruto vs Pain, both from Shippuden. The first Naruto vs Sasuke from the original gets a notable mention.
    • TehScribbles – Going to have to go with the original here when Shikamaru fought Tayuya, (the Sasuke Retrieval Arc) which kept me on the edge of my seat. I always kept asking, “How is he going to get out of this one now?” I was kind of disappointed when Temari came to save him since I was hoping for a longer fight and more tricks from his sleeves. Any fight with Shikamaru is bound to be a good one.

In contrast, what is a fight scene that has yet to occur in the series that you are anticipating or that you wish would occur?

    • EagleEyes – I don’t want to see any fight in particular, just more from my favorite characters. Possibly a team of Shizune, Neji, Shikamaru and Shino? Pretty please?
    • ZshadowX – I’m hoping for Ninja Monkeys, Ninja Dogs, Ninja Cats, Ninja Horse, Ninja Turtle, Ninja Pig, and maybe Ninja Dolphin having a Battle Royale to the finish. Really now, I’m just hoping the Shippuden series will catch up with the manga.
    • Jinn Remona – That’s hard to say as not a lot of big-impact fights have taken place in the manga that would make me want to wait to see them. The best I can hope for is seeing Madara fighting against Naruto’s father, the 4th Hokage. Other than that, the recent battle of Gai-sensei and Kisame will be amazing as well.
    • Cameron – Naruto vs Sasuke! Okay, sure, it already happened in the original series… but not in the Shippuden series!
    • TehScribbles – Sasuke and Naruto: as much as I hate to admit it I really want to see it. Their battle during the Sasuke Retrieval Arc was epic. Although the next time they full-on-out battle might be the end of the series since Sasuke is the polar opposite of Naruto.

Who is your favorite character from the series? Is it due to personality / their ninja abilities / story line involvement?

    • EagleEyes – Hmmmmm tough question. Tough question, indeed. In fact I have never had to put so much thought into a question as I have to for this one… If any of you were for one moment taking me seriously, you either haven’t spoken to me for a long enough period of time or have somehow managed to block out my fan boy rantings. The Answer to this question, and all life’s questions, for that matter, is Shizune.

Since her first appearance, the series has 100% more throat-stabbing action. In all seriousness though, I can’t tell you why I love Shizune so much: possibly because of her overreactions of “AYYYIEEEEE” or possibly because she is voiced by my very most favorite voice actress Megan Hollingshead. One thing is for certain though, she is my very most favorite character in any anime series.

    • ZshadowX – That will be Shizune. Is it due to personality? No. Their ninja abilities? No. Story line involvement? No.
      Then why? EagleEyes.
    • Jinn Remona – This is usually where I would vote for Hinata, but I’m going to have to shoot for Gai-sensei. His attitude and his overwhelming strength when he really lets loose are all-around amazing. That, and his friendship with Kakashi is amusing, especially during the piggyback scene.
    • Cameron – That’s a tough one…I could be boring and say Naruto, but I think it’s Hinata. Naruto, because he brings in all the most interesting and entertaining fights, Hinata because she’s cute as anything, and her obsession with Naruto is slightly inspiring, but mostly entertaining.
    • TehScribbles – Rock Lee, hands down. His personality can be summed up in one word: practice. In his backstory they explained that he didn’t have any talent for anything but taijutsu. Instead of giving up on his dream he put passion into it and practiced for his goal no matter what others said to him. His personality is one to remember because he’s so annoying and has not a drop of shame, yet he’s so kind to others when they are in need. He also has the ability of the Drunken Fist which I think is the best ability. Why? Who doesn’t want to drink and become an awesome dodger?

How do you see the series ending? Will it be in the near future or is there still far too much money for them to make off the series?

    • EagleEyes – I can see the manga lasting for at least a 150 more chapters. There is too much left to happen for it to be any less.
    • ZshadowX – Naruto X Hinata, Naruto finally becomes a Hokage, Naruto finally falls in love with Hinata, they get married. I really don’t care much about what will happen, as long Naruto and Hinata are together, I’m happy or Kiba X Hinata: it doesn’t really matter.
    • Jinn Remona – I see Naruto fighting Sasuke. Again. This time, Naruto will prevail, being the main character and all. Sasuke will either die, or completely turn around and become good again. The end.
    • Cameron – I dunno how it could end. It’s so easy to include a few years’ worth of filler and new plot twists, points and items keep popping up here and there — mainly twists. I don’t know how long they’re gonna drag it out, but I don’t see it ending anytime soon.
    • TehScribbles – Naruto just got control of the Nine Tails Chakra so I hope it’ll be ending sometime soon with a fight between Sasuke and Naruto. It does have a bit of a ways to go, but if I had to guess, it’s about 2/3rds done. They are milking it for all it’s worth so I won’t be surprised if more fillers pop up to keep it going. Although I’m still waiting on Ten-Ten’s character development…

How do you feel the series has impacted on the world of anime? Will the series be remembered in years to come?

    • EagleEyes – Love it or hate it, Naruto has become the mainstream of anime. Together with Bleach and One Piece it has gained similar status as previous titles such as Sailor Moon and Dragonball in terms of popularity. Only time will tell if it will be remembered as fondly though.
    • ZshadowX – Oh Naruto has really made an impact on the world of anime. People are going crazy for it. Plus, my very first manga that I had ever read was Naruto. I don’t think people will be able to forget Naruto for a very long time.
    • Jinn Remona – One thing I can say for certain is that Naruto has shown people over the years a clear definition of what fillers should NOT be. Long. Oh so very long.
    • Cameron – I think it’s gonna be the anime that, while it has its good fans, is gonna be remembered as the series that made several people lose any interest they might have had in anime, and turned away people before they even got a good look at it, and just in general give anything Nipponese-related a bad name, solely due to the fan boys.
    • TehScribbles – Naruto will always be in the top 10 Anime/Manga, (popular wise), maybe even the top 5. When it’s all set and done, who knows? Maybe the manga artist will keep the setting with a different character. In years to come I think there are always going to be people talking about Naruto and its most unforgettable catch phrase, “Believe it!”

Lastly, what is your most memorable moment from the series? When someone says “Naruto” what is the first thing to pop into your head?

    • EagleEyes – Sakura cutting her hair in the Forest of Death. This was yet another moment where Kishimoto baits us into thinking Sakura is somewhat useful, only to dash our hopes and pour salt in our wounds.
    • ZshadowX – My most memorable moment is when my brother and I watched Naruto together, even though we have nothing in common at all. Now that we are a bit older, I still continue to read/watch anime and Manga, but as for my brother, he really doesn’t like anime anymore. When someone says “Naruto” that is the first thing to pop into my head. ~Facepalm
    • Jinn Remona – The most memorable moment in Naruto would have to be when Naruto burst from the ground and defeated Neji. That was a very good moment to me. As for the first thing to pop into my head, if I wanted to be funny, I would say, “Believe it,” but that’s not what pops into my head. “DYNAMIC ENTRY!” Enough said.
    • Cameron – Epic awesome fight scenes. That was what made me start watching it, I think.
    • TehScribbles – Best moment? I think I’ll have to go with when Sakura and Naruto re-fought Kakashi during Shippuden. The second Sakura punched the ground, I was impressed and had new-found respect for Sakura for actually being useful. Then the battle with Kabuto and Orochimaru happened in which she was knocked out and so was my new respect. When someone says ‘Naruto’ I always remember the color orange. I don’t know, I just do.

Awesome round table! Yes a few spoilers for those of us 100eps behind in Shippuden so had to avoid reading a few questions. And may I take a liberty and do some Comment participation.

    1. Hinata vs. Neji (the Byakugan battle) Ch?nin exams
    3. Rock Lee & Gaara
    6. Everyone’s always telling Naruto your destiny is fated to which he takes great offense and counters with your destiny is what you make it and just overcome any notion of fate. Also the OST music is some of my favorite.

    • EagleEyes September 8, 2010 at 11:57 PM

I love some of the music too, the track called “Strong and Strike” is my favorite. I liked the Hyuuga battle also ^^.

      • toyNN September 9, 2010 at 2:11 PM

Ha, I felt comment was too long so I removed my fav OST tracks, also “Stong and Strike” and “Raikiri” – that music from Naruto definitely started me down the “now-all-I-listen-to-is-jpop” path.
