RIP Frank Buckles 1901-2011
I felt this needed to be posted. Yesterday an American Hero, Frank Buckles passed away by natural causes. Frankle Buckles was the last recorded Veteran who served under the American Flag in World War 1.
Frank enlisted when he turned 16 years old in 1917, making the recruiter believe he was 21. He rose to the rank of Corporal before being discharged. He was taken prisoner by Japanese soldiers in WW2 as a civilian during an invasion. (Frank Buckles in 1917) (Frank Buckles in 2007 wearing the French Legion of Honor) For more information about Buckles and the awards he received, check out this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Buckles Rest in peace

Re: RIP Frank Buckles 1901-2011
umm umm umm, he lied about his age. Just kidding, many guys did that to get into the military back then. Now, with all our records and identifications, it would be pretty hard to get in before regular age I would bet.
Anyway, good for him having such an long life.
