It's not that strange, anime has been inspiring music artists for ages. Kanye West had his "Akira" influence in the video for "Stronger", Daft Punk released a whole anime movie; I've even written a hip hop track inspired by Kamina from Gurren Lagann.

Considering the Gundam sci-fi series has been around for ages. I'm not surprised that it's now finally starting to make an impact in the music industry.
