| Free! Nanase Haruka loved to be in the water - loved swimming. In elementary school, Nanase Haruka, Tachibana Makoto, Matsuoka Rin, and Hazuki Nagisa attended the same swimming class together. Time passed, and as Haruka was living an uneventful high school life, he suddenly encountered Rin again. Rin challenged Haruka to a race and showed him how much stronger he had become. Soon enough, Makoto and Nagisa also rejoined the group, and along with a new classmate, Ryugazaki Rei, they established the Iwatobi High School Swimming Club. |

Free! Eternal Summer Episode 001 Discussion
Welp, Nagisa was cute. Makoto is cute. Rei is still a derp. So much focus on that rivalry though. It's kinda gone by the wayside by now, hasn't it? Also, Rin crying at the cherry blossoms... I legit laugh. I LAUGH AT YOU RIN!
Ending with shotas, good idea. Approved.

The animation is still wonderful to look at, but I was semi-disappointed. It mainly stems from lack of real plot other than the mysterious new character whose presence alone didn't invoke a plot in this episode. Of course, I'm hoping that the part where Rin talks about what they should do after school become relevant to the plot.
I'm hoping for a little realistic drama, not to say I don't enjoy the corniness of "swimming drama"

As long as Makoto and Haru have no drama. Otherwise, sure, bring it. If I need to punt Rin again, fine, be it. I WILL BEAT HIM UP.
