ANNCast Episode 023 - Interview with Carl Macek
ORIGINAL ARTICLE:
ANNCast Macek Training This week's ANNCast is a little special: our guest is none other than Carl Macek, who needs little introduction. We go through the man's entire career, from his earliest days promoting genre films, to the creation and success of Robotech, to the Streamline days in the 1980s, all the way through his recent history at ADV Films. It's a really long interview, clocking in at just under 2 and a half hours, but it's worth it, we promise! Obviously we won't be making shows this long a habit, but if you're interested at all in the history of anime in America, then this is probably worth a listen. We start out the show with a pretty brief first segment about Durarara!! and the new Space Adventure Cobra, but it's over pretty quick as we just wanted to get to the interview. Enjoy! LISTEN HERE Or DOWNLOAD HERE NSFW Language Warning: Actually there's hardly any swearing in this episode! Glory be! Then Justin basically runs down a list of odd films Macek has worked on, including Captain Harlock, Megazone 23 Part II: International Edition, and Windaria; there are some great, great stories in here! And that's it! See you next week. Have questions for the ANNCast crew? Tweet 'em to @ANNZac!
