Re: Favorite OST
I'm surprised no one's mentioned the Soul Eater soundtrack. The blend of styles from a fast paced dance number (Blitz), very relaxed rap (Soul Eater -So Scandalous-) and epic battle music (Mifune) really sets a good tone.
In terms of video games, my consistent favorite is the Kingdom Hearts II Soundtrack from Yoko Shimomura, which never ceases to impress. However my new favorite is the BlazBlue Calamity Trigger soundtrack from Daisuke Ishiwatari, dude just knows how to blend hard rock and chants, as well as a cool jazz number with Marionette Purple. |

Re: Favorite OST
I couldn't pinpoint a specific OST, but if you were to tally up how many listens all my songs got, the winner would probably be old school mecha anime. GaoGaiGar, Getta Robo, Grendaizer, Mazinger, older Gundam etc.

Re: Favorite OST
There are a few Soundtracks that I love listening to on a whole.
Death Note is quite robust and very good. No one has mentioned Mushishi. It's music is outstanding. Welcome to the N.H.K. has some really good songs on it. And of course, the old classic, Cowboy Bebop. |

Eguchi Takahito's Trinity Blood OST. The music has amazing range from sparkly cutesy to maniacal to really dark.
The xxxHolic OST is a good listen too

Re: Favorite OST
Some of my personal favorites have always been:
Android Kikaider The Animation and the Kikaider 01 OVA Rurouni Kenshin Full Metal Alchemist the original animated series Ginga Densetsu Weed Witch Hunter Robin Mobile Fighter G Gundam had a fantastically epic score considering how goofy the whole thing really was. Tobaku Mokushiroku Kaiji For games I'd say Wild Arms the whole series, but mostly 2 and 3. Most of the Shin Megami Tensei series Okage Shadow King has a strangely memorable score Shadow of Colossus all of the Guilty Gear series, though I must admit I was never all that impressed or satisfied with the BlazBlue OST Katamari Damacy Silent Hill and both central Klonoa games: Door to the Phantomile and Lunatea's Veil. |

Re: Favorite OST
*Agrees with Aravyre* The Kara no Kyoukai OST is incredible. I love Kalafina.
I really have enjoyed everything that Kajiura Yuki-san has composed and/or produced. That would include OSTs for Noir, .hack//SIGN, Tsubasa Chronicles, Kara no Kyoukai, et al, as well as contributions to several other series, games and movies. Close runner up to Kajiura-san is Kanno Youko-san. Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, and GitS:SAC are among her works I have really liked. There's so much good music out in the anime world! And then, personally, I also like the music from the Jigoku Shoujo series (several titles by SNoW). Last edited by Aniki; 05-04-2010 at 12:39 PM. |
