The first time I'd heard the name of the site it was said "nine one eight", and since that's how I type in the URL it's stuck with me ever since, it's also nice when talking about it to people who don't know about it, because they're more likely to guess the URL on their own, assuming I don't have enough time to hand them 4 or 5 business cards.

Edit: apparently I used the same words multiple times in that explanation, apparently.

Radio stations here do say the "point," so when I think about the name I add the point.

But when I tell others about the site at conventions I just say nine one eight the fan . . .because that is the URL. Just makes sense to me somehow.

Radio stations in my area vary. We have Rock 104.5, which is just called Rock One-Oh-Five and we also had a radio station called Lite 96.9 (ninety-six point nine). I go with the Nine One Eight, myself. For mostly the same reasons as Kibs.
