| Free! Nanase Haruka loved to be in the water - loved swimming. In elementary school, Nanase Haruka, Tachibana Makoto, Matsuoka Rin, and Hazuki Nagisa attended the same swimming class together. Time passed, and as Haruka was living an uneventful high school life, he suddenly encountered Rin again. Rin challenged Haruka to a race and showed him how much stronger he had become. Soon enough, Makoto and Nagisa also rejoined the group, and along with a new classmate, Ryugazaki Rei, they established the Iwatobi High School Swimming Club. |

Free! Episode 007 Discussion
A Rin focused episode. This is gonna be... awesome.
Rin is seriously the biggest jerk. He has mental problems, a really horrible obsession, and he's just out to hurt people. I can't have any sympathy for him when Haru literally stopped swimming for Rin didn't have to be such a big baby. Rin even cheated by swimming slower the entire time to fool not only the team, but also to get a different qualifying time. If there was any respect I had for him, which was pretty non-existent, it's gone. It will never come back. Literally made me want to put my score down on the show. Focusing on this douchebag is something no one can enjoy.

Why would they make a character with no good qualities?
Truly, does anyone see any good qualities that I've missed about Rin? Can we just not have him be a thing ever anymore? He said he'd never swim with Haru again so like, can he be gone forever now? Please? PLEASE?

You know after watching it, I can see WHY Rin did what he did, essentially to defeat Haru. But at the same time I felt it was a little overkill.
It's like Yugi having all five pieces of Exodia first turn kinda overkill. I'm still not enjoying the sexual tension between the characters, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! SOMEONE KISS SOMEONE!
