There are people who see anime and manga and think to themselves, "This is cool! I want to make it too!" Pen is put to paper and Dojinshi, or self-published work, is the result. American anime fans take many cues from Japanese culture; including selling their dojinshis at various conventions. A long time ago at MangaNEXT I brought one of those dojinshis called SACRED.

Filing into the concert hall with my crew made it very apparent that I wasn't the only fan that was eagerly anticipating the arrival of the young starlet Kanon Wakeshima. By the time we made our arrival the room was filled completely with the cellist's devotees.

I love RPGs. Canada's first entirely female owned and operated video game developer, known as Silicon Sisters Interactive, is out to create "games for girls" games made by females, for females.
The way Silicon Sisters Interactive operates is not by painting current games pink, they actually do research and stuff and make games girls want to play.

Oh Grand Theft Auto, sometimes it’s hard to remember what a good game series you are what with all of the controversy and outrage surrounding you. But underneath that rough media exterior is one of the best examples of sandbox gaming done right, combining trace elements of story with a world overflowing with entropy and the potential for chaos.
