Pokemon Black/White Tournament

I was talking to EagleEyes about doing a Pokemon tournament. The game been out for about 2 weeks now (maybe 3?) and almost everyone i talked to already beat the game and training their pokemon.

The tournament i suggest would be a Round-Robin tournament, followed by a normal elimination tournament. This is how it would work.

Everyone would play each person at least once, resulting in a win or lose. The person with the most wins will be ranked 1, the 2nd most wins would be rank 2 and so on. Then the elimination tournament would start up.
Rank 1 and 2 will fight to see who the true #1 is, and the loser will be 2nd place. 3 and 4 will fight for 3rd place. the others who is not in the top 4 will not play again.

This is what I proposed. If you want to join or got your own ideas on how it should work, then post your ideas.

Re: Pokemon Black/White Tournament

Sounds like fun.

What are the rules 3 v 3 / 6 v 6?

Are we using Tiers?

Whats clauses will be in place?

Can we ban ferrothorn? XD

Re: Pokemon Black/White Tournament

I think a 6v6 with no level cap could work, but it may be unfair for people who got more time to level up pokemon.

We can also do a 6v6 lvl50's, but you would have to stop around lvl50, or it won't work.

We can also do a 3v3 auto lvl50. This may be the most fair of them all, but I see 3v3 being fast and less fun than 6v6.

Clauses would be:
Sleep Clause
You cannot put two of your opponent's Pokemon to sleep at the same time. (Rest not applicable)

Frozen Clause
You cannot have two of your opponent's Pokemon frozen at the same time.

One Hit KO Clause
One hit ko moves such as Horn Drill or Sheer Cold are not to be used.

Item Clause
4 or more Pokemon cannot hold the same item in your party (the max is 3) with the exception of the choice items and focus sashes(one each per team) One choice scarf, one choice band ect.
---The item Soul Dew is banned.---

Selfdestruct Clause
The moves Selfdestruct, Explosion, Perish Song, Destiny Bond, or any other such move may not be used if both players only have 1 remaining Pokemon. If a player uses one of those moves under this condition, they automatically lose.

Banned List:

-Mewtwo
-Mew
-Ho-oh
-Lugia
-Kyogre
-Groudon
-Rayquaza
-Deoxys (all forms)
-Dialga
-Palkia
-Giratina (both forms)
-Shaymin (sky form)
-Darkrai
-Arceus
-Manaphy
-Wobbuffet
-Zekrom
-Reshiram
-Kyurem

Re: Pokemon Black/White Tournament

Add a Freeze Clause and I am in.

I think we would have to go ahead and do the 6v6. Sorry to say, but alot of us already have Pokeys above level 50, so the next check point is 100. =/

I will still have to level quite a bit myself, but it isnt like this tournament is next weekend or something, so.

Lucky Egg will be people's friend.

Aside from that, I think all usual tournament rules are in place, so I would love to compete.

However, will we have to register our 6 for the opponent to see, or will be it free game? (Just curious).

EDIT: (Oh, and Kyurem on the banned list. ;D)

Re: Pokemon Black/White Tournament

I think the same species clause is stupid. It can only hurt a team by not allowing it to be as diverse. If I want to use 6 bidoofs that's to my detriment and should be allowed...

Re: Pokemon Black/White Tournament

I do think we should up the item clause though, as more than just Soul Dew should be banned.

i.e. Brightpowder, Quick Claw.

As well as ban all Accuracy/Evasion moves. No one likes those. =/ They are kind of hax. I'm down for whatever, but it is just my preference to have Accuracy/Evasion stuff out the window. I forgot to mention it in the other post.

I agree though, I have always considered Species Clause silly. Let the people use the same thing over and over as long as it isn't banned or impossible to stop.

i have level forty somethings so yeah i still have leveling up to do...kusari's going to catch up to us before we know it. i also have breeding to do but i can do a round robin with my current team since none of them are legendaries.

Let me know when we have the prep times, and potential dates for competition.

thanks.

Sounds fun, but I don't own the game nor can get wifi with the DS. I'll be rooting for everyone on the sidelines, though.

Re: Pokemon Black/White Tournament

While I am always interested in a bit of pokebattling, I'm afraid that if there isn't an autolevel rule (either 50 or 100) I won't be participating. I've put most of my serious battling behind me, and as such grinding another team to level 100 doesn't sound like any fun at all. I wish you all luck though, as this does sound rather interesting. Curious to see how many people will stick with the new pokemon and how many will revert to the classics.

5 of mine are classics, I'm only using 1 Pokemon from the new generation in my team......I wonder if Jubi can figure out who it is in time?

Better not be Garbodor...

NO WAIT

I BET IT IS THAT PONY!

EDIT-------

Also, with the whole Round Robin thing, why don't we have # 1 face # 4, and #2 vs #3, and then the winners of those two rounds get to fight for the championship.

I like Brackets.

Just a thought though. Everyone might not agree with that one.
