Re: New Super Mario Bros Wii

I watched someone stream a few Worlds of it, and it looks amazing. I'm likely getting this. From what I saw, they took all the best from Mario 3, SMW, and NSMB DS and put them all together into one giant mix of awesome.

I want to play it, but I don't think it will last long. I do like how eye-catching the cover is though, it's quite a big sign of "I'm here!".

Re: New Super Mario Bros Wii

well so far its shown itself to be maybe... 1.5 times the length of new super mario bros DS. still really fun though.

dont completely know if the game is worth $50USD... id say $30 is a good price.

I honestly thought it was WiiWare until after it came out.

I would actually have to agree, it certainly feels that way, the only difference is that you can have 4 players at once... which becomes quite hectic.

thats what i thought as well until about a month ago when my friends said it was an actual stand alone game, me and my friends are working on beating all the levels, getting all the star coins, and unlocking all the secret paths. Just starting World 7 now.

one thing i wanted to mention is the Wii startup screen for NSMBW made me lol... Mario goes: "NEW SUUPER MAURIO BROS WEEEEHEHEEE~~"
it certainly has its share of lulz, just take a look at the "super skills" vid

I didn't play it but I watched my brother play it. it looked fun and I played with him sometimes but it seemed to go by fast. He played a lot of Mario so he finished quickly.

Re: New Super Mario Bros Wii

I got this for XMas and it is such a ragemachine when my brother plays with me. He's awesome at FPS, but put him in a sidescroller and he falls to pieces...

And then there are the times he tries to kill me...and I try to kill him. I was up like 20 something, then him and his friend join in, suddenly I'm up like 6 continues and they are 10+... But it adds to the challenge and fun.

I'd buy it..but it seems a little lonely to play it by yourself (like playing Mario Party by yourself).

Re: New Super Mario Bros Wii

Its a pretty fun game, it practically an updated Mario 3 minus the Tanooki, Racoon and Frog suit and add the Ice Flower, Peinguin and 2 levels worth of Yoshi.

It plays for roughly a day worth

Re: New Super Mario Bros Wii

I played it, it is a pretty good game especially with a bunch of people since there are infinite continues so even the noobs can keep on playing. The levels are average level to slightly higher than normal mario difficulty but the hardest part of this game has to be dealing with all the other players on the screen. If you run ahead of them too much they die. the screen freezes for a split second when they die which causes you to screw up and not jump over a koopa stuff like that is the hardest part to deal with this game.

Re: New Super Mario Bros Wii

its fun for sure.
but if your thinking its about powering the levels fast collecting every damn coin , punching every single brick, going down every pipe, like the original mario, you will probly be let down.

this one is more of a fun thing with family/friends.

I never needed to use a continue when on Single player, when I played multi player then I did, at first I was incredibly confused, I wasn't aware that they where only keeping track of how many continues I was using (I thought we had a specific amount of continues left)

Re: New Super Mario Bros Wii

yea... now that me and my roomies have thoroughly beaten the stuffing out of this game (beat all levels, gotten all coins, etc) it turned out to be... short... like... VERY short... as i said earlier, its maybe 1.5 the length of NSMB DS.

my final verdict: fun short game that you can play with other people (i recommend 2, 3 or 4 is too hectic for my tastes) it came out $50USD... i say with its length and how much effort nintendo probably put into making it... i would pay $30 at most for it if i knew exactly what i was getting. its worth more and is longer than WiiWare though in my opinion.

if you have the money or someone gets it for you, its awesome, but if you spent $50 on it... you might have some regrets as to how much enjoyment you get out of the game.

Re: New Super Mario Bros Wii

I'd have to agree, very short (I have played it now, rented it). It could have been released in multiple "episodes", and probably would have lasted longer and been more exciting that way. Nintendo would rack in the same amount of dough, but people would be more willing to buy it with the "$10" price tag on it.

Here, it is $99. Not worth paying money for.

Re: New Super Mario Bros Wii

I feel like i have too much time on my hands, while at the Gamestop for the FF13 release, waiting for my friend to get his copy, there was a kid who was playing a mid boss castle and (the first one in the desert level) It was a Wii display people could play.

And he couldn't even jump out of the sand to escape, he spent like, maybe 7-ish minutes and could barley make it to the top.
When he passed the controller to me I was able to not only jump out of the sand for the first time but i flawlessly jumped from bit to bit and reach the top without being hit in a matter of a minute.
While he was flabbergasted I felt somewhat ashamed >_>

I feel sad that you had to show off to a kid who probably hasn't ever played a side scrolling Mario game.
