I do!

This is the proper way to add a friend on the Wii U:
Go to Miiverse
Click on the User Menu on the top left (with your Mii)
Search Users
Type in their Nintendo ID
add the friend from their Miiverse Profile.

By doing it that way the other person gets a notice you want to add them, and can accept it.
If you try to add from the friends list, they won't be notified.

Currently I have Nintendoland (which is really fun) and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (WHICH IS AMAZING!)

My Nintendo ID is of course AnarchoElk
