ARE YOU READY?? It's time for Round 2!
GOSICK EPISODE 2 EDITION!
Welcome back, my friends! Now, where did we leave of? Ah, yes! We start at a dinner session going on in the creepy ship our main characters boarded. You know, with the obviously not suspicious invitation in the yacht. Kazuya is forced to watch people eat as the invitation only services one person. Had he not took away some stuff Victorique packed (snacks), he wouldn't be in this situation. However, she's nice enough to stuff his mouth with a roll.
Skipping awesome opening, everyone in the dinning room seems to be asleep. How very odd. That's not strange at all. We then see a dream sequence from our hero. He's a chibified (younger) version of himself now and someone's telling him to get up. Like yelling. That's not very nice. Anyway, he wakes up and we're now in a new room. Apparently, everyone who ate the food was drugged and brought into this room. Now, I wonder how long they were drugged for. Victorique then points out there are twelve people in this room while there was eleven in the dining room. OH NOES! AN EXTRA PERSON! Could the suspect be in this very same room??
Kazuya explores the room a little and finds a model boat. This boat is the Queen Berry. Hmm.. Now where have I heard that from? OH YEAH! The first episode! The ghost ship, oooooooooohh! Oh yeah, our heroine has a weird laugh. Cute, but weird. Suddenly, a black out! Oh no! Is someone gonna go missing??? No. The lights go back on and everyone is still there. Well... Other than some blood writing on the walls. People freak out.
So, one guy really freaks out. He runs, trips, and runs again to the doors that are suppose to be locked. He opens them. BOOM! A dart arrow shoots him in the head, dead center.
HEADSHOT! One down, eleven to go. Well.. I should say nine. We know our heroes can't just die on the second episode, right? Now that the trap was sprung, people run out of the room and outside. Some of the guests begin jumping on a lifeboat...IN THE MIDDLE OF A STORM LIKE OCEAN. Now really. Common sense? I see being scared and all, but you're just gonna-
Too late. I counted six people on that boat. So, looks like we're down to our final five. One of these three people are our killer or something. Our heroine looks emotionless as ever and Kazuya keeps suspecting of her being a doll. Yeah, I see what you mean, dude. Seven people just died. Like, right in front of you.
We jump ahead to some strangers who we have no clue who they are. Someone died, back to our characters. They appear to be back in the starting room where they were all dragged to, though, this time the room looks like it's been abandoned for a long time. Also, the body is missing.
Old mustache guy freaks out about GHOSTS and trips over a chair. Everyone seems to be tripping a lot in this episode. They need a caution sign somewhere around these rooms. We learn of the character's names, who cares. I get to call them whatever I want! Also, it seems like mustache man saved Kazuya from an earlier trap. You know, touching the model boat. And, guess what?? *dramatic pause* OUR CHARACTERS ARE ON THE GHOST SHIP!
Victorique does that laugh again. She starts to go all detective and spots stuff like the wine, paint, etc. She figures out that the room their in isn't the actual room, but a replica. How? She orders Kaz to open some other door in the hallway. Suddenly, a room far down bursts open with water. OH NOES! ABANDON SHIP!
Kaz's life is saved again. Remember kids, during murder scenes like this one, NEVER EVER USE ELEVATORS. This was a helpful message brought to you by nobody. Anyway, Kazuya saves Victorique from a trap button, they find the stairs, they find a room with about knee high water, green haired lady goes across water first, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!, and so on.
Old mustache guy freaks out again, old man finds a gun, he goes all crazy about the hares, and points the gun at the peoples (more at our heroine). Kazuya stands in front of her, like a shield. Old man goes crazy once more and we hear a gun shot. Guess what? END OF EPISODE! CLIFFHANGER!
My overall thought of this episode:
I got some type of Detective Conan flashback. Is that bad? I will say, though, Victorique is getting a little... yeah. That Fountain of Wisdom thing (if she did that) or whatever makes her seem a little overpowered and kills the viewers who like to look for clues as well. I mean, how can one tell by the wine if you just saw it? I kinda like her, but I have my limits with her as of now.
The episode did feel like something of a detective genre should be. People dying, a mystery behind the scene, backstory, and so on. I'm happy we did see some character development as well.
And now, my favorite character of the episode! He wins it again for me.
His selfless act earned it for me. He got Victorique out of the way from a trap, he carried her across the water, and is shielding her at the end. That earns points in my book!
So what should I give him? Another thumbs-up, that's what!
Episode Rating:
Eight Pikas out of ten.
And that's it for this review. Come back next week for episode 3! ~
