I'm pretty sure I'm taking it in.
In my head I always use the voice of the character when I'm reading subtitles, novels or comics. It's only if I have no idea what a voice sounds like that I use...

Not in my head, maybe in yours.

I prefer subs. For me I prefer the sound of the Japanese voices and I don't like how American accents can stand out like a sore thumb in some animes, but...
