SNES Gen.

Yo, I had a good idea for threads, since this is previous gen, I figured console general would be a good idea, because while groups of us could talk about certain games, most of us could talk about consoles and games for it in general.

So when it comes to the SNES I have to say RPGs are probably the best genre for this system. FF6, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, SMRPG, BSSM:AS, and I'm sure I'm missing a lot, and these were all masterpieces.

when I think about the Snes, the RPG games that pop in my mind is Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana
and the one that are not RPG are Super Metroid and Legend of Zelda: link to the Past

The SNES definitely had a lot of RPGs, mostly good, some dreadful. In the '90s, if you liked Sports games, you bought a Genesis. If you liked RPGs, you headed for the SNES. The SNES is definitely one of my treasured systems and I should probably get more games for it...

when I got my snes I spent all my time playing super mario, legend of zelda, contra 3, lost vikings (blizzard ftw) and many others it has always been my favorite console just because it was the last old school non 3d console.

Not much to add that hasn't been said already, except I think you're forgetting the Lufia series.

What is BSSM:AS?

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon: Another Story. I LOVED Lufia 2 Rise of the Sinistrals. AMAZING game, revolutionary in many ways afaik (I never made it through all of Lufia 1, so it could be samey?) The music, art, world was AWESOME.

Lufia 1, though a good game, wasn't nearly as impressive as the second one. Lufia 2 was all-around good in every aspect, I felt it was one of the most complete RPGs I had ever played. The only thing that bothered me was that the guy in the intro, Arek, never shows up at all in the game. He appears to be the one giving orders to the sinistrals, so why didn't they ever have Maxim and crew fight him?

Lufia 3 was a great game too. Lufia 2 and 3 are probably the most underrated RPGs I know of.
