Anna Tsuchiya

So, as what seems to be happening to me WAY too often, I'm late to the party for yet another artist/group.

Anyone who has watched the anime NANA, will know Anna Tsuchiya's voice right away (singing voice for Nana O).

I stumbled upon her 1st live concert DVD and have to say I'm stunned and pissed at the same time...yet another epic performance that I found YEARS afterwards xD

It's crazy how MUCH she channels the character Nana, whether by coincidence or intentional, it was pretty cool.

ANYWAYS, I'm pretty sure I'll be following Anna's music here on forward.

You should too! :D

She's also in this film: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamikaze_Girls It's very similar to Nana and I'm pretty positive it came out before the anime, but I could be wrong.

Yep, you're right, several years before the anime.

Supposedly the character Ichigo Shirayuri, who she plays, is inspired from events from Anna's real life.

I'm becoming more and more intrigued by her as I read up about her career as a model, actor, singer and mother. I love that she took the idol/pop culture bullshit and seemed to shove it up its collective arses lol

I definitely need to do a retro album review or something at some point. Her latest EP isn't doing so hot (it's a marked departure from her rock roots...maybe she's growing out of the punk/rock days)

She's so damn kawaii though!

Her voice in the variety of rock songs and rock ballads is a throwback to early rock stars like Blondie, Joan Jett and the like.

Seriously, I'm in love xD

Yes! In fact, she writes most of her own English lyrics too! :)
