Playstation Vita

Not sure I should really use this suffix since the Vita is PSV, but Kibs can fix it later.

Wondering if I'm the only one in the community that got one. I saw a lot of peeps using "Near", there was about fifty in my area yesterday within a two mile radius. I also know it's not doing bad sale wise because Amazon has sold out of practically everything.

I ordered my Vita from them and got a 4GB Memory Card thrown in, but once my Vita shipped my Memory Card didn't have an estimated shipping UNTIL April 23rd. So instead I cancelled that, they gave me twenty credit, and I went to K-Mart to pick it up (and they only had two in stock at 8 AM on the first day the Vita came out). So everything so far leads me to believe it's sold well, but can't really say until we get numbers.

Either way, I'm loving the design of everything. I'm really thankful for trophies on my handheld, Twitter apps, and I thought the design of the tutorial was cool. Make a tutorial with trophies equals profit.

I think the nicest thing though is the screen, it's big and seems resistant to smudges or anything so far (granted, I'm using a screen protector).

Also, those mini-cereal sized game boxes are adorable. I am disappoint for the lack of a manual with Touch My Katamari however.

If anyone wants to play with me my PSN is Kanashimi, and the games I have are Touch My Katamari, Army Corps Of Hell, and Hot Shot Golf.

If anyone has any questions just on certain things about the Vita I don't mind answering, taking pictures, or taking video.

These are actually fairly small. I keep comparing them to mini-cereal boxes, but just a little thinner. I think they're cute, and as long as I get a case I'm not gonna be picky on the size of them.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a69...ta/vita005.png
This is a better size comparison of the three. The Vita is quite large width wise, but it fits nicely in my hands. I've always like that it's rounded, and getting use to using the back touch pad isn't a problem really since you naturally rest a finger or two there as it is.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a69...ta/vita007.png
When you come back from stand-by and power it on this is what it shows. You just flip (or I guess rip) the tab to get to the home menu.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a69...ta/vita008.png
I like the way this menu is designed, it's easy to compare with friends, syncing trophies is notably faster, etc.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a69...ta/vita009.png
I just like this app, lmao. I turn on my Vita to tweet instead of using Trillian.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a69...ta/vita011.png
This is one of the ways to look at what you have open and switch between them faster. I'm not one of those people who keeps a lot of applications open, so I doubt I'll use this a lot, but I like the design of it.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a69...ta/vita013.png
Each page of the menu can be changed to what you want to be there. My first page I put what I care about like trophies, games, etc.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a69...ta/vita014.png
This is all my social stuff with a brighter background. I kinda just wanted to keep things that related to each other near one another. My last page is basically settings and other misc things.

There, pictures.

Updated: Added a size comparison of a PS3 case to a PSVita game case.

I would post a penny arcade comic but we all know how saucy those things can be so I'll post this review of the Vita by the Penny Arcade Report!

Re: Playstation Vita

I found this amazing thread on NeoGAF entitled "The *Definitive* PSP RPGs For Vita Thread". I'm not posting the direct link to it since they're not very strict on cursing, but I figured this would be amazing for people wondering if they can play their favorite games on the Vita.

So once again, did not make this, but I found it. I've tested a few of these such as Valkyria Chronicles II and it worked like a charm. Enjoy!

If all things go according to plan, I might have the funds put together to pick one up in a few weeks, month, tops. But I do have conventions coming up, so I'll have to play it all by ear.

Re: Playstation Vita

Yay, I would love some more Vita peeps. :D

So I messed around last night with my Vita and found the proper wallpaper size is 960X544. What I wanted to originally do since the papers flick up and down is have a very long picture cut up, but I couldn't find anything long enough to do so that I liked. So for now I'm rockin' Girls' Generation.

Here's how it currently looks. I should add that I'm pretty sure the screenshot function degrades the quality from the Vita because it turns to jpeg, and I'm not sure where it's compressing, but I can fully vouch that the backgrounds look exactly the same on the Vita.

Edit: Actually, on second thought looking at these it seems like anti-aliasing isn't used when saving a screenshot...

The rest can be found here http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a69...20Devil%20Run/ so feel free to use them. I think the only one I'm not happy with is Yuri's so I might go back and change that. It's fun to organize your screens like this honestly. I actually wish I had a bigger memory card so I could take advantage of putting PSP games on it I never played, but that's for the future.

Ah, I didn't even grab Foursquare since Near is so similar and my phone has Foursquare. I can't say I can imagine a situation where I'll have my Vita and not my phone...

Anyway, someone is excited for Gravity Rush.

Re: Playstation Vita

I am excited for it, it's one of the main reasons I got the Vita.

I also grabbed foursquare just to see what the UI looked like. I hardly use 4sq as is, but I figured having it wouldn't hurt.

Sure thing, there's a PSN name thread in the Video Game sections. Just lemme know you're on The Fan cause lately I've had random people from Near adding me.

Re: Playstation Vita

Alright, so for those of you who don't know at 3 AM PST there was a conference in Japan about what was coming out next on Vita. A lot of this is obviously getting ported to us, and we had one or two US confirmations. I've collected all the information here for Vita users.
  • Keiji Inafune announced he's working on a "new" Vita game (Mega Man, Dead Rising)
  • Metal Gear HD Collection is coming to Vita, which was predictable
  • Legend Of Heros next game is coming out on Vita with full voice, it was supposed to be released on PSP, but there wasn't enough room on UMD
  • Gundam Seed Battle Destiny announced for Vita
  • Bandai teased a brand new Super Robot Wars game for Vita.
  • There's the Discovery Project, but I have no idea what it is and neither does anyone else.
  • Persona 4 The Golden introduced by the director of the project.
  • Phantasy Star Online 2 was announced for Vita, which I predicted.
  • Ragnarok Odyssey was hinted that it's coming to the US on top of more of the social features revealed in its trailer.
  • Same company as above is working on Dokuro and an Untitled game for Vita. There's no trailer that I can find, but if someone can feel free to post it.
  • First trailer for Surge Concerto Ciel by Gust

Re: Playstation Vita

Unfortunately none of this really excites me. I'm looking forward to Persona, and that last one looks interesting enough, but so little was seen of it that I can't tell if I'm going to want it or not.

Re: Playstation Vita

Kibs I will say the same thing
But I also have hopes for Gundam (that is if it get realice here in the US)
