Anyone into Mecha Anime??
 

I sometimes think Mecha animes are sooooooo AWESOME!!!! i just get to addicted to it sometimes *cough (Macross Frontier, Code Geass, etc.)

Gundam Wing was my favorite Gundam hands down.

I'm not a hardcore Mecha fan, I enjoyed Code Geass because the Mecha wasn't the main focus, there was another plot entirely which kept your focus. I just find Mecha anime's are really cool and exciting at first but can get very repetitive..

I Totally Agree with you....like in Neo Genesis Evangelion the Mecha wasn't the main focus also, it focus more on character development, which i thought it was okay, but man oh man it sure had some awesome mechas which for me got me hooked. My point is Mecha animes does get a little repetitive, and sometime gets dull, but sometimes all that doesn't really matter, if you like watching or collecting Mechas, it just prove of how much a fan you really are. and being a fan is what counts :P

I think who ISN'T into Mecha anime is the better question. That way we can find those people and shun them :durhur:

But in all seriousness, Code Geass, Full Metal Panic, and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann are my favorite mecha animes.

Mecha can be good. I prefer it when it's 'realistic' or at least reasonable for giant robots to be there, like in Gasaraki and Patlabor.

No, this is the right question, unless you want a thread flooded with people. The fact of the matter is shows that prominently feature mecha are pretty unpopular. The problem is mecha isn't a genre, but people wind up thinking that while associating it with something they dislike, and considering how broad the "genre" is there's something for everyone to hate.

I like mecha, though I don't like it as much when mecha is the /only/ thing a show has going for it. Code Geass is frickin' amazing but has a crazy twisting plot and fun characters in addition to robots, and Gundam Wing is still awesome but again has a really cool space opera story with all sorts of political intrigue.

Also, what is it with Gundam fans and hating on Wing?

Sad to say I hated Neon Genesis, hated every second of it.
Although I'm big into Gundam, my favorites being:
Saviour Gundam
Infinite Justice
Burning Gundam
Double Zeta Gundam (Eat my high MEAG CANNON!!!!)

as an overall as a fair few above I am not into mecha generally but I loved code geass , Eureka 7 (not the movie) and full metal panic.

I'm into non-yaoibait boyband Gundam series, and most other Mecha. Although, I did enjoy Wing, probably because it was the first boyband Gundam, and had some novelty, and the franchise hadn't completely sold it's soul to Satan by that time. Which is why I'm pumped for Unicorn.

I second Gunbuster and Diebuster. Both great anime.

Gurren Lagann is, hands down, my favorite, but I also love a lot of the Go Nagai super robot shows--Mazinger, Getter Robo, Grendizer, Jeeg.

My favorite mecha is definitely Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann.

In fact, most of the shows I said in Top 10 thread were mecha.

I also build gundam models.

I've watched Code Geass/ R2 and Aquarion, but thats basically it. Both are great though.

It's hard for me to pin down the fav in mecha. I usually watch those series that contain a lot of arcs where mecha may only play a lesser role like in Voices of a Distant Star. My favorite "in your face" mecha is Neon Genesis Evangelion not so much for the action and high-yodelin' drama generated by those Angels but more for observing the character development of the Eva pilots through the episodes.

If I was the same age now as Shinji, Rei, and fiery Asuki are portrayed in the series I'd probably favor the action from a viewer standpoint rather than trying to comprehend why the story author bothered fleshing out the social lives of these select teens. However, since I am older than dirt and have endured way too much college reinventing myself it is fun to analyze this show from a psychological perspective. NGE validates all those dollars spent on college. Yaaaaaaay, Japan!

Mecha anime is my favorite genre. The best mecha anime I've seen is Eureka Seven, and the worst I've seen is Gin-iro no Olynssis; however, my favorite mecha universe is Planet Zi (Zoid's). As for my favorite mecha, it would be The Nirvash (though, the chibi version of it in the movie is more awesome), but if I could pilot something, it'd be the Blitz Tiger from Zoids.

Yeah. Mecha's pretty cool. Currently watching Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. A mate lent it to me. Let it be known that Kamille is a perfectly good name for a boy. #ha

I'm pretty into UC Gundam, though Turn A Gundam is pretty nice. Gundam 0080 is an absolute must watch for everyone, best out of all the Gunda OVAs (08th MS Team, and 0083 Stardust Memory can suck it . . . . just kidding, they're not bad).

I'm watching that, pretty great, though some of the battles are ridiculously short. I'm also a little bothered when they switch animation styles to the one that looks like a Gurren Lagann bump, especially since they use it as stock footage, so every time he takes out his green sword, it looks completely different from when the rest of the episode.

gundam and transformers hands down,no other mecha animes are better then them,granted i start with transformers so i love a bit more then gundam,but if wasn't for gundam their probably wouldn't had been transformers since the guy that created transformers got his idea from watching gundam 0079 and brought his idea to the usa to bring the world the first two episodes of a cartoon that been running 25 strong,transformers generation 1 and it didn't do so well but when it made it to japan it became mega hot in the usa and japan and the rest is history

but now you see why those two are always fighting for number 1 in my heart lol,but i also like alot of other mechas,their was stupid ones out their like code gesass or what it name is.i though it was retard.granted i did like the gold and yellow suit though it was awesome and i hate that one race track racing mecha anime,that was so friggin stupid -.- other then those two i like all other mecha anime

god i wish zoids would come back to the united states T^T

Eureka 7 is teh winz and Code Geass makes me cry. . .because the irony of everything that happens makes me laugh in amusement and depression~
I tend to enjoy Gundam. . .all of them (but I can't really remember since it's been a LONG time since I last saw any of 'em, if that makes sense?). I blame my father who collects a ton of the figurines and such~
