View Full Version : What Conventions do you hope to attend?

With this thread, Im not asking which conventions you know for sure you will be attending but what conventions you really want to go to in the near future. I know for some of us we can't predict into the future and see if we will be there because stuff comes up.
Feel free to talk about the conventions you have been to so that everyone can get an idea of what it's like and maybe they might want to try and go to. This is just our wish list of conventions :P
In the near future I hope to be able to attend:
Tsubasacon (http://www.tsubasacon.org/)
Anime Expo (http://www.anime-expo.org/)
My main ones I want to go to is:
PAX and PAX East (http://www.paxsite.com/paxeast/index.php)
1EO7fF9t9b4
Though I have been a anime fan for many years, in the beginning, it was all about the video games. PAX, to me, sort of symbolizes the kind of convention that I dreamed of since the beginning. You don't have to be a Penny Arcade fan to enjoy it. They have the latest and even unrealeased video games right there with areas where you can play DnD, cosplay, play video games, really just NERD OUT. The music they get for their is very good and Im hoping I can make it for PAX East and then make my way to the west coast for regular PAX. My friend CarbonIZE was able to make it to PAX 2009 and talked about how it's just an amazing experience. Him and I are going to try and make it for another PAX :D

I really wanna go to Sakura-Con (http://www.sakuracon.org/) in Seattle.
I'd never heard of PAX before, but I've never been much of a gamer. It looks huge though!

I'll probably start hitting Otacon in '11, and I'll at least pop into Ikkicon for a day next month, I might also go to this year's A-Fest and I want to check out AWA and AX some time or another.

Comiket in Japan. I'm going to the motherland of anime.
I would also like to do a pilgrimage across the world going to anime cons.

I want to hit as many as I can.
I'm taking classes this year, hopefully my drawing classes will provide me with the experience I need to be a manga artist, and take some time to visit conventions, hopefully, see the fruits of my labor?

I'm looking to hit up some local ones as well.
The biggest Con that I am most excited about for sure is the Toronto Con. Special Guests include Eric Vale, Kyle Hebert, Todd Haberkorn and Wendy Powell. Not to mention it's one of the best in Canada, So I'm excited at the chance to attend this year.

Well, wanna go to Fanime. But that's kinda far and expensive. Also anime expo. Just went to a con this last weekend (Sacanime) and plan on going to the Summer one. I wanna go to Otakon or maybe Comic con but those are far out of the question until I can start to make moneys.
Decisions, decisions......

Has anyone been to the one thats held in New York? Is it worth the pain staking effort that goes into it?
I'll be probably going to SuperNova this year.

Anime North in Toronto is always great. Might go to a few other cons this year but AN is usually the only one that's guaranteed.

I'm going to Anime Central in a couple months, and I'd like to make Youmacon this fall, but that's a doubtful one unless I get some surprise money. Gotta start saving for Invadercon right after Acen if I want to be able to make that. ^^

I go to too many cons...
Last year (for either ygotas or magfest)-
Animenext
Otakon
Tigercon
GameX
VGXPO
Anime USA
MAGfest
So far this year (confirmed)...
PAX East (for MAGfest)
Anime Evolution (for ygotas)
It's funny cause i go to so many cons now and do stuff there that I really can't go to cons as an attendee anymore, I would be too bored lol (plus I haven't paid to get in a con in years lol)

If anyone is going to ConnectiCon (Hartford, CT) it's on July 9th to the 11th!
If you join the forums (It only gets active around the time of the convention) i'm "Infinite_Justice"
Gonna look into changing that

I'm going to Acen in Illinois this May. If Animeland is teaming up with colorado cutthroat, I'll be volunteering for Supercon in Denver this summer and if I get this mentor job this summer in Austin, I'll go to their local con with a few friends.

Metrocon every year. Depending on my financial situation, I might go to an extra random convention.

Well before I wanted to go to the fan expo, but now it looks more like I may be able to attend Anime North which is an awesome convention from what I've heard.

I'm planning to attend Supanova this year, and take my cam-corder this time. If I get organised, I might even have a track ready for the performance part of the CosPlay tournament this time. Here's hoping the crowd likes anime-inspired hip-hop.
And of course I'll be attending Animania for the All-State Smash Bros Tournament as well.

Missed the Naka-Con held in Kansas City (Yes, Virginia, there is a place called the Midwest) this year. Maybe I'll have better luck next year.
Nashicon is really close to where i am, so i'm hoping to go there.
I will probably be not be attending Anime Expo anymore, due to a lack of details. I will instead focus a lot more on Super Nova, coming up later this year.

AnimeNEXT, for the bajillionth year in a row. I hope to serve as a panelist this year. *crosses fingers*
It would also be awesome to go to AnimeUSA, since my college does a trip there and I might get an alumna discount.
Otakon is out of the question this year because it's too stressful figuring out a car ride and all the stuff involved... sadly. Also, I'm flat broke. =D So that ain't gonna happen.
Super Nova, FTW!
Also, it has to do with the fact that I intend to go to Italy at the end of the year. ^^

Anime Expo 2011. Hoping my dad will let me go :D
I'll be heading to the UK's London MCM Expo in May and October, and also London Film & Comic Con this July. They're the only major ones in London, and I went last year, so may as well go again!

My hope is to attend Conventions not in the North East, (Been to most of them around here). Hoping for otakon, Anime North a long shot, Anime Expo, Anime North, Anime Vegas, Mega Con...I like cons not just for anime but the different states and the travel fun too.

I went to Ohayocon already in January, and the only other con on my list for this year is Anime Vegas. I used to go to ACen, but then I moved to Texas, so my "backyard" con all of a sudden became four states away...boo.

Gaming wise I'll be attending E3 and Evo this summer as well. It'll be my first time to these gaming events.

For all you planning on going to Anime Expo and Anime Vegas this year, look forward to seeing us at those conventions in force. we will be covering the conventions for all your guy's benefit.
I plan on going to Anime Expo this year, im personally kind of broke, but AX is something i cant miss. will be there to help the team cover the expo and other things.
though in the future i need to get around to visiting Comiket and whatever major anime conventions there are in Japan when i get a chance to go. hopefully i get to go somewhat often given my particular major (International Business -Focus on East Asia, esp Japan) and field of work.

Arrrrrgggh! So many conventions, so little time. I asked for an app to go to the Geneva Convention recently and was turned down. Apparently I had not committed enough or the right type of war crimes. Oh, well. Maybe in the next lifetime....

Does anyone here go to Colossalcon, in Sandusky, OH?
I have a voucher for 2 free tickets, but I won't be going. I'd love to see them go to good use~

Ah sorry you couldn't use those tickets. I live in West Virginia, right beside of Ohio but that's all the way up north. Looking at the info online, it looks like a very cool convention.

If I'm still living here in Vegas by the time Anime Vegas comes around, I'd like to go to that. Otherwise, I don't really know of any others. XD
<<< Lame.
I'm still planning on going to Otakon 2010. I don't know as what, though. I know I will be wearing my 91.8 The Fan tee on the first day and spreading the word about it there.

Yay! someone else here that must be around Central Florida! I also go to Megacon. You should also check out Anime Festival Orlando (http://www.animefestivalorlando.com). I'm going there for the first time this year. But, I've been going to Megacon since it started, minus some years I spent over-seas. ^_~

I really wanna go to New York Anime Festival this year (it's combined with NYCC)!! =D
I hope I can save up enough money to go. It's in October, so I still have a few months to save up for it. ^^
I went to NYCC last year, and it was absoluely amazing. It was the most fun I ever had at a convention! Best experience ever! <3

I've heard the best stuff about AX and Otakon, but I haven't been to either so I can't recommend one over the other. Sakura-con is decent but it's pretty small as far as conventions go.
I only go to Sakura-con and PAX (20 mins from me ftw), but I want to start going to AX.
Once I get a decent job I'll hopefully be able to go to one or two more per year, it'd be cool to meet up with people there.

Personally I would like to go to an american convention or two as well as the London expo I believe its called. Sadly I can only go to a smaller student run one which pose no competition when it comes to anime questions.. They are too easy.
