I generally watch everything. Unless it turns out to be crap. Then I watch it and complain about it later.

I agree with Shadow on this one, I will watch mostly anything (dont ask what I have watched) and will just say "why did I just watch this???"

Anything that doesn't suck horribly. Which I do not watch and still complain about.

I'll watch anything, except YAOI, not BL, I'll watch that, I mean porn, unless someone I trusted said it was funny, then I might give it a pass.

The two most important classifications for a manga or anime series I don't believe would be genres, or far reaching classifications such as shoujo or shounen, but rather story and episode. And I much prefer story, though from time to time a good episodic anime is a great timesink and brainrest.

Shall I introduce you to Aria? It always makes me doze off, but the ever-present water images keep me awake by giving me the urge to pee. :P

I'll watch mostly everything. If it's crap, I'll give it a rant/review on my site on how bad it is. If it's good, well, I'll review it on my site. XD

When I'm my online persona, though, I just love Ecchi/Hentai anime and talking about how hot the girls are, haha. ...Or how bad they are. >_<

Mostly shounen-ai, action, fantasy and comedy. I've watched the odd mech anime, but I don't watch much of that. I prefer to stay away from those -w- Oh! and supernatural

I do tend to stray towards the serious stuff. But, besides that....

Depends what I feel like ...
From bloody horrors to ridiculously stupid harem echi comedy ...
For me is easier to say what I don't watch ... for 90% I dislike Yaoi with few exceptions ... History genders are to avoided by me =_= and things that are for me to heretical to watch ( for example Rosario+Vampire capu 2 how they f... up it so much X_X )

Comedy and/or Romance

Oni
01-09-2010, 02:52 AM
Slice of Life
Romance
Comedy
Adventure
Serious (if that can count as a genre these days)
Coming of Age.

I'm not limited to those genres, and I am aware that there is a lot of shovel anime in said genres, but there are quite a few gems too. And I know space travel doesn't count as a genre, so...it wasn't included.

Shadowblade Edge

Since when has serious ever been a genre. Or coming of age for that matter, more understandable, but still. As to space travel, maybe Space Opera would be appropriate?

I generally watch Action, Suspense/Mystery and General Fantasy. Not so keen on Horror, but I have been known to watch it (and sleep with the lights on afterwards :S ).

I'm big on shounen anime. As long as it isn't too ridiculous or goofy or contrived (couldn't ever get into One Piece, for instance) I'll probably get a kick out of it. The latest one I've been watchin' is Fairy Tail, which is pretty tight.

In terms of anime, Mostly the action and adventure. I enjoy a series with a complex yet interesting and easy to follow plot.

In terms of Manga, I enjoy the slice of life, comedy, romance, adventure and other types of stories that don't have huge battle scenes but have like-able characters and a plot that captures the reader.

Don't associate moe with comedy.

ok... moe = quality, its not a genre... moe is more along the lines of "pretty boys" or "super CG everywhere"

I would prolly go with action, comedy and everything non-mecha.

Oh and I dislike overly dramatic anime, like Clannad.

Losertastic124
01-18-2010, 11:42 AM
Those bloody, gory messes of an anime that take psychotic twists and has a deeper meaning/plot line then you would think.

I also love the historical animes!
And the ones that involve creepy black magic!

lol so true xD (hi this is TJK from dgz btw , long time no see)

yeah , I'm going to have to go with romance , comedy and suspense and detective animes mainly , I love an anime that has a story that can suprise you but not to the point it's all over the place or overly complicated.

The type of anime that i prefer to see are Action, Romance, and comedies. I also like the intelectual ones like death note.
I think that Romantic Comedies have the best storylines though.

I'm all about hyper-violence and giant robots. The combination of the two, like in New Getter Robo, is especially nice.

Now that Baccano! has come around Gangster movie is now a genre in anime, so that is my favorite, I also enjoy the mind ♫♫♫♫ genre (yes, I consider it a genre), most series have a bit of romance, but I have seen very few actual romance shows, I also like a good drama like Gankutsuou.

Oni
02-23-2010, 02:40 AM
"Gangster" would generally be something akin to "film noir", correct?

Shadowblade Edge

"Gangster" would generally be something akin to "film noir", correct? Not a horrible comparison, but it'd actually be the cluster of genres that is Crime Film, as such, it's not an actual genere.

Atmora

Yeah, a bit like Noir, only less of a downer, more colorful, and less detectivey.

Gotta love the Psychological ones...mess with my mind...freak me out...if you give me nightmares, I'll probably like you more for it. #smize

And Magical Girl...of course. Can never have to much of that. :daw:

Mecha, Romance, and Fantasy, in that order. I, of course, go outside these genres, but they are my most common.

Whatever piques my interest really. I find myself watching bits and pieces from every defined genre provided. The ones that really get me are the obscure and artsy kind of ones. Also, comedy is also a hugely favoured genre of mine - for anything really.

It's kind of hard to pinpoint the genres. For example, I love Trigun, but is it action or comedy? Still, I guess I'll venture to say action and mystery (although who doesn't love a good comedy?).

Mellow slice of life is my favorite genre. I was absolutely blown away when I first saw Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. The random slice of life like Lucky Star isn't bad either but for those it depends on the specific series.

I'm a fan of the action/comedy genre of anime. I really enjoy watching super natural animes too like Beelzebub, World God only Knows as well and mecha.

I do watch other animes as well but of course even animes can be bad in an awesome genre....

FMA,

Durarara!!/Baccano I was expecting slice of life at first then became action so great animes
